Carol Sirou is an independent director and consultant with over 25 years of experience in senior management positions in Europe and the United States.
Before becoming CEO of S&P France in 2009, she worked her way up through the ranks of Standard & Poor's Ratings. She then led the rating agency's activities through the subprime and eurozone crisis (2008-2014). In 2014, she moved to S&P's New York headquarters, before being appointed global head of compliance for S&P Global Inc, the parent company of S&P Ratings in 2016. In 2018, she founded Safineia Advisors LLC, which provides management, risk and governance consulting services.
She is currently an independent board member for three companies in financial services: Agence France Locale, a bank specialising in local authority financing, Exane, a joint venture of the BNP-Paribas group specialising in cash equity, derivatives and asset management, and Qivalio, a European rating, research and advisory agency in the field of sustainable finance.
In addition, as part of her philanthropic activities and her interest in education, she is also a trustee of the United Nations International School (UNIS) in New York and of the Dauphine USA Foundation.
A graduate of Sciences Po Paris, she holds a Master's degree in corporate finance from the University of Paris Dauphine and a management program from the University of Virginia Darden Business School.
